Israel is a small Jewish and democratic country in the Middle East that knows where it belongs, even when it doesn't always seem to fit in. The Jewish people's roots in this land stretch back thousands of years, but exile scattered them across the world for nearly two millennia. The Zionist movement brought Jews back to rebuild their homeland, ultimately establishing the modern State of Israel in 1948.
Israel's history since then has seen wars, peace treaties, and shifting borders. As the Middle East continues to change, Israel's deep historical connection to the land endures, and hope remains that with time, creativity, and cooperation, a bright future lies ahead.
