Testimonials

"Hearing Israeli voices and engaging with these speakers added rich contextual layers to what I knew from reading about Israel."
Stacey Saady
JFCS Holocaust Center and the California Teachers Collaborative for Holocaust and Genocide Education
"What an enriching series of lectures, well-organised and covering a range of topics around Zionists and Zionism. I would recommend this to every teacher of modern Israel."
Michele Galanti
Carmel High School, Australia
"Sarah played a key role in helping us clarify and redefine our goals for both our school-wide Israel education scope and sequence and the 8th grade Israel Seminar. She guided us in identifying our “must-know” content, and then supported us in building individual lesson plans, drawing on her deep familiarity with the Unpacked catalog. We greatly appreciated her knowledge of Israel, her educational philosophy, and her ability to meet students where they are."
Rabbi Jonathan Bubis & Faye Bearman
Solomon Schechter Day School of Metropolitan Chicago
"I really appreciated this class, having the space and time carved out to learn content that helped me work as a more effective Israel educator. It was about teaching ME so I can be a more informed and knowledgeable teacher. I felt so privileged to learn from people with such a high level of expertise and clout. It felt like a gift."
Dr. Erica Rothblum
Head of School Pressman Academy
"I found the presenters extremely knowledgeable, engaging and personable. Each presenter brought something special and a new different angle to the overall discussion which I can use in my classroom."

Frequently asked questions

Q: Can I apply without a UED membership?
A: Yes. Membership is not required to apply, though members receive discounted consulting and other benefits.

Q: Can my school apply for both courses?
A: Yes! Schools can apply for mutiple courses. Each course requires a separate registration fee.

Q: Is the fee per school or per educator?
A: The fee is per school per course. Each school may send 2 educators per course.

Q: What will each session look like in practice?
A: Each 75-minute session will include a mix of presentation, breakout discussions, Q&A, and guided reflection—designed to support both deep learning and practical application.

Q: Are the sessions in person or on Zoom?
A: All sessions will take place on Zoom. While recordings will be available, participants are expected to attend all sessions live and may only miss one.

Q: What’s the difference between the North America and International cohorts for the Master Course?
A: Both cohorts cover the same content, but run on separate schedules suited to various time zone. Sessions may also touch on examples and perspectives relevant to each group. When you apply, you’ll indicate which cohort you’re registering for based on your location.

Q: I’m an International educator — can I join the other courses (Curriculum Revamp / Big Jewish Ideas)?
A: Yes! Those courses are open to educators worldwide. Sessions are scheduled in Eastern Time (EST), and while we can’t guarantee times that work perfectly for every timezone, we do our best to accommodate. Recordings are available for anyone who misses a session.

Q: Why are the sessions scheduled during the middle of the school day?
A: We know it can be challenging to find a time that works for everyone across time zones and school schedules. Many of our speakers are based in Israel, so the sessions are timed to accommodate the difference. With only four or five sessions total per course, we hope participants can find coverage or that the sessions fall during a lunch or free period.
