- Israel’s Culture & Diversity
Is Israel the David or Goliath on the world stage? The David and Goliath metaphor is often used to describe small vs. mighty forces, often where the underdog prevails. In its early years, Israel was often described as the David, but today, with its strong military, that perception may have shifted. However, while Israel is in fact a strong country, that power is rooted in survival, not dominance. Israel’s strength has always been shaped by a deep commitment to never again be vulnerable and to always have agency and self-determination. But how is Israel perceived by the world, and how does it maintain moral clarity in the face of existential threats? This video unpacks the foundations of Israel’s strength, exploring the complicated tension between power and morality.
