Mizrahim in Israel

Goals:

• Students will learn about the diversity of Israel’s population with a focus on the tremendous impact of Mizrachi Jews
• Students will analyze the history of Israel’s Mizrahi Jews and their rich culture.
• Students will learn about the challenges Mizrahi Jews faced when they arrived in Israel.

2. What contribution have Mizrachim made to Israeli society? 
3. What challenges did Mizrachim face when they immigrated to Israel?

Big Ideas

1. When moving to a new country, immigrants often face discrimination and are seen as outsiders. This is true of immigrants to Israel.
2. Over time, Mizrahim became more accepted and integrated into Israeli culture.
3. Israeli food, music, and culture has a lot in common with Middle Eastern countries.
