Dr. Noam Weissman

Executive Vice President

Dr. Noam Weissman is the Executive Vice President of OpenDor Media (Unpacked). He spearheads the educational vision and content creation at OpenDor Media. Noam has led the expansion of the Unpacked For Educators division, which is used by thousands of educators across the globe, and recently launched a new platform for independent schools to teach about Israel and antisemitism, called ConnectED.

Noam earned his doctoral degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Southern California, specializing in curriculum design. His dissertation, “Approaching Israel Education,” advocates for a fresh perspective on learning about the modern State of Israel, emphasizing Zionist identity development, narrative formation, and fostering a mature, empathetic relationship with Israel. He is the host of “Unpacking Israeli History,” and co-host of “Wondering Jews,” both top trending podcasts.

Prior to joining OpenDor Media, Noam served as the principal of Shalhevet High School in Los Angeles. He is married to Raizie Erreich and they are the proud parents of four incredible kids.

Avi Posen

Director of Education

Avi Posen is the Director of Education at Unpacked for Educators and ConnectED, where he leads the UED team and the broader educational vision, oversees content development, and supports educators around the world in teaching about Israel and Judaism with nuance, confidence, and clarity.

For six years, Avi has helped shape Unpacked for Educators’ platform, curriculum, and global community. He brings extensive experience as a former Jewish day school teacher, Hillel director, and Jewish camp director, and has trained educators and spoken to audiences across Israel, North America, Europe, South Africa and Australia. Avi holds a Master’s degree in Jewish Education from Yeshiva University and has been published in various educational journals, as well as in Ynet and The Times of Israel.

Sarah Gordon

Director of Unpacked for Educators

Sarah Gordon is the Director of Unpacked for Educators (UED), where she leads the education team and supports educators around the world in teaching about Israel and Judaism with nuance and confidence. A dynamic presenter, she has led UED conferences across North America and spoken to diverse audiences of educators, teens, and parents. Her writing on Israel education has appeared in HaYidion, Jewish Educational Leadership, and other journals.

Previously, Sarah was Director of Israel Guidance and Experiential Education at Ma’ayanot High School, where she taught Talmud, chaired a Contemporary Israel course, and led innovative programming. She studied in Yeshiva University’s GPATS program and holds dual Master’s degrees in Jewish Education and Modern Jewish History. She is currently pursuing an Ed.D. as a Wexner Fellow, researching the support educators need to teach Israel effectively.

Yoni Buckman

Senior Educator

Yoni Buckman is a passionate Jewish educator who helps learners explore Israel, Jewish identity, and complex contemporary issues with nuance and empathy. Drawing on over a decade of experience, he meets people where they are—from elementary students to seasoned educators—using authentic dialogue, storytelling, and multimedia to make challenging topics accessible and engaging. Through his work with ConnectED and Unpacked for Educators, Yoni empowers teachers and communities to facilitate meaningful conversations that build understanding across differences and cultivate curiosity in diverse settings.

He currently serves as the education lead for Unpacked Junior, directs the Unpacked Teen Leadership Fellowship, and manages educator relationships across the western United States.

Alex Harris

Senior Educator

Alex Harris brings years of experience in Judaic studies, curriculum design, and student engagement. He previously worked on conflict education at The iCenter for Israel Education and holds a Master’s in Education and Human Development from George Washington University, a Bachelor’s in Judaic Studies and International Studies from the University of Michigan, and received semicha from Rabbi Brovender.

At Unpacked for Educators, he leads the development of the Judaism Unpacked content and supports schools and educators particularly in Chicago and Montreal.

Yehonatan (Hona) Dodge

Senior Educator

Hona Dodge is a dedicated educator committed to strengthening Jewish identity and community. Based in Israel, he leads our international network of educators, with a focus on partnerships in Australia, South Africa, and the UK. He teaches both local Israeli groups and visiting groups, including gap year students, and contributes to The Weekly, our current events newsletter for the classroom. Before making Aliyah, Hona spent years teaching and leading in Melbourne, Australia where he served as Head of Jewish Life at Leibler Yavneh College. He holds degrees in Law, Commerce, and Education.

Keren Horn

Senior Educator

Keren Horn is a passionate Jewish educator with expertise in curriculum development, with a focus on Israel and Holocaust education. She is an experienced classroom teacher who, during her time at Yavneh Academy, created and facilitated a comprehensive, multi-year Israel education program that remains a cornerstone of the school’s middle school curriculum. Keren has presented widely on Israel and Zionism to educators, teens, and parents across the U.S., and holds a Master’s in Education in Learning, Cognition, and Development from Rutgers University.

Haviv Rettig Gur

Haviv Rettig Gur is an Israeli journalist who serves as Middle East Analyst for the Free Press, host of the Ask Haviv Anything podcast, and the senior analyst at The Times of Israel. He has covered Israeli politics and the country’s foreign and regional policies, as well as its relationship with the Jewish diaspora. He served as director of communications for the Jewish Agency for Israel and was an early advocate and lobbyist for SpaceIL. He teaches about the intersection of journalism, history and politics.

Sivan Zakai

Sivan Zakai

Sivan Zakai is the Sara S. Lee Professor of Jewish Education at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion. In addition to directing the Children’s Learning About Israel Project and co-directing the Learning and Teaching about What Matters Project, Sivan serves as an associate editor of the Journal of Jewish Education and as a member of the faculty at the Mandel Teacher Educator Institute. Her books include My Second Favorite Country: How American Jewish Children Think about Israel (winner of a National Jewish Book Award) and Teaching Israel: Studies of Pedagogy from the Field (co-edited with Matt Reingold).

Benji Davis is an American-born Israeli educator and scholar, currently serving as Assistant Professor of Jewish Education at Yeshiva University’s Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education and Administration. He previously served as the 2024–2025 Israel Institute Teaching and Research Fellow at George Mason University. Benji is also the founding director of IMPACT Israel Education. In 2024, he received the Harold Wechsler Award for Emerging Scholars from the Network for Research in Jewish Education (NRJE), recognizing his research on the vision and teaching of Israel education.

With roots in the Old Yishuv and the Caribbean, he shares Jewish history, diversity, and human rights through Unpacked and across social media. Using Hebrew, English, and Arabic, Yirmiyahu engages global audiences with content that highlights Jewish identity, resilience, and complexity.

Sarah Golubtchik is the Director of Educational Innovation and Development at Herzog Global, where she channels her years of experience as a classroom teacher, administrator, and instructional coach into meaningful professional development opportunities. She is a graduate of Barnard College, holds an MSEd in Jewish Education from Yeshiva University, and received a certificate in Jewish Law from Matan HaSharon.

Matt Reingold is an educational consultant who specializes in designing research-informed Israel education resources that are innovative and creative. He is the co-editor of Teaching Israel and the editor of Education after October 7, a collection of essays that will be published in Fall 2025. He posts about Israeli cartoons and how they reveal the complexities in Israel on Instagram at @CartooningIsrael.

Henny Bochner is the Director of Educational Advancement at the Rae Kushner Yeshiva High School. She received her BA in Psychology from Yeshiva University's Stern College and has an MA in Jewish History from the Bernard Revel Graduate School of Jewish Studies. Henny is completing her doctorate in education and administration at Yeshiva University’s Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Education & Administration.

Doug Berkowitz is a Jewish Educator located in Central Florida. Doug has an MA in Jewish Education from the Jewish Theological Seminary, which is supplemented by the iFellows Master’s Concentration in Israel Education (The iCenter) and the Pardes Experiential Educators Program (Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies). He also holds an MA in Clinical Psychology/Statistics from the University of Dayton.

Rena Sichel Rosen is the Middle School Assistant Principal at the Leffell School in Hartsdale, where she teaches Israel Studies and Modern Israeli History, and directs the eighth grade Israel trip . Ms. Rosen holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MA in Education and Human Development, Israel Education, from George Washington University. She also holds an MS in Historic Preservation from Columbia University.

Ariella Falack is a teacher of Tanach and Halacha in the Yeshiva of Flatbush Joel Braverman High School. She graduated from Allegra Franco School of Educational Leadership in 2009, holds a Tanach Educators certificate from Herzog College, and a masters degree from Azrieli Graduate School of Education and Administration. She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Azrieli Doctoral program for Jewish Education and Administration, and writing her dissertation on spirituality in the classroom.
