Student Sessions
Israeli Elections and Current Events, Unpacked
Israeli elections don't just change governments, they reshape the country. At a moment when Israel is navigating war, political upheaval, and profound questions about its future, this session gives students the context and background they need to move from headlines to genuine, meaningful engagement with the issues and forces shaping Israel today.
Israel and the Palestinians After the War: What’s next?
After everything Israel has been through, what do Israelis still believe? This session explores the human dimensions of the conflict, examining what people across the political spectrum are hoping for, fearing, and imagining for the future of Israel and the Palestinians after the war.
Unpacking Israel through media
What can Israeli media tell us about what Israelis are actually thinking, feeling, and debating? This session uses news, social media, and popular culture to give students an inside look at Israeli society, moving beyond headlines to a richer, more human understanding of the country.
Teacher Sessions
A practical guide to UED
This session gives educators a practical guide to putting Unpacked for Educators to work in the classroom. We'll walk through the resources that fit your teaching, from videos and curricula to current events tools, and show how to weave them into real lessons. We'll also leave time for Q&A to address your classroom-specific needs. Participants leave knowing exactly where to start and how to build engaging, nuanced Israel learning with UED.
Teaching the Israeli-Palestinian conflict: is peace possible?
Is it still possible to teach this conflict with honesty and hope? This session equips educators with the frameworks and context to bring the hardest question in Israel education into the classroom, helping students wrestle seriously with whether peace is possible.
AI in the Israel education classroom
This session gives educators practical tools for bringing AI into the Israel education classroom, exploring how to use it to deepen context, spark discussion, and create engaging, nuanced learning experiences around Israel.

About your educator
Hona Dodge is a dedicated educator committed to strengthening Jewish identity and community. Based in Israel, he leads our international network of educators, with a focus on partnerships in Australia, South Africa, and the UK. He teaches both local Israeli groups and visiting groups, including gap year students, and leads The Weekly, our current events newsletter for the classroom. Before making Aliyah, Hona spent years teaching and leading in Melbourne, Australia where he served as Head of Jewish Life at Leibler Yavneh College. He holds degrees in Law, Commerce, and Education.
